PM chairs Provincial Apex Committee meeting in Quetta on Balochistan security
Field Marshal Asim Munir, Governor Balochistan Jaffar Khan Mandokhail, Chief Minister Balochistan Sarfraz Bugti and heads of law enforcement agencies are attending the meeting
A meeting of the Provincial Apex Committee of the National Action Plan is underway in Quetta with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in the chair, reported 24NewsHD TV Channel.
Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Governor Balochistan Jaffar Khan Mandokhail, Chief Minister Balochistan Mir Sarfraz Bugti, and heads of law enforcement agencies are attending the meeting. Federal Ministers Ahad Cheema and Attaullah Tarar as well as Prime Minister's Adviser Rana Sanaullah are also participating in the meeting.
Addressing the meeting, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said that war against menace of terrorism will continue till the eradication of each and every terrorist. He said that Security Forces have offered lives for the safety and security of the nation and killed 54 Indian sponsored terrorists in intelligence-based operations.
Prime Minister Shehbaz said that eastern neighbour was involved in terror attacks in Pakistan. He said that weapons are being supplied to terrorist organizations from neighborhood as terrorists are using Afghan soil.
Prime Minister asserted that political and military leadership was committed to eradicating terrorism. Prime Minister said Pakistan's diplomatic successes were hard for its enemies to digest. Prime Minister pledged that Pakistan will soon become a hub of progress and prosperity.
The Prime Minister said grave incidents of terrorism had occurred over the past four days, resulting in the martyrdom of civilians as well as personnel of the police and the armed forces. He said security forces killed fifty-four terrorists in retaliatory operations.
Shehbaz Sharif said the entire nation stands firmly behind the armed forces and law enforcement agencies in the fight to eradicate terrorism from the country's soil.
The Prime Minister further said, undoubtedly, terrorists and their organizations receive arms and financial support from Pakistan's eastern neighbour. He added that terrorists also carry out attacks inside Pakistan from across the Afghan border. Shehbaz Sharif said Pakistan's military and political leadership are united in their resolve to eliminate terrorism. He said Fitna al-Khawarij cannot tolerate the respect and recognition Pakistan has earned on the diplomatic front, as well as its victory in Marka-e-Haq.
The Prime Minister reaffirmed that all available resources will be utilized to eradicate the scourge of terrorism and put the country on the path of sustainable development and prosperity.
He also paid rich tribute to the martyrs for their supreme sacrifices in the war against terrorism.
Earlier, Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif arrived in Quetta on Thursday to review the law and order situation in Balochistan amid continuing violence in the province.
During the visit, he chaired a high-level meeting to assess the overall security situation and reviewed measures aimed at maintaining peace and stability.
Senior security officials briefed the Prime Minister on the latest developments and the measures being taken to address security challenges across the province.
The visit comes days after Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfaraz Bugti outlined the provincial government's development and security agenda during an Open X Space discussion on July 5. CM Bugti said that the presence of Pakistan's security forces ensured that violent groups could not undermine the writ of the state.
