Railways Divisional Superintendent (DS) Sukkur Mian Tariq Latif has rejected allegations against him while claiming that the railway track has completed its life and needed urgent repair.

Talking to 24NewsHD TV channel on Wednesday, Tariq Latif said that heavy trains carrying coal for Yusufwala Coal Power Plant have completely destroyed the track’s life.

He said the ad-hoc arrangements are not the answer to the gravity of the situation being faced at this track as it needs urgent repair. Latif warned that otherwise the safety level will remain zero.

He rejected the accusations against him about urging drivers for overspeeding and said drivers are so much powerful that they could not even listen to the Minister for Railways. He claimed that people tried to save the real culprit of Mandodero accident.

DS Railways Sukkur said that he asked for two million rupees to repair the track but only Rs0.2 million were provided.

Railways Minister Azam Swati talking to media persons said that 63 persons killed in the railway accident.

Azam Swati informed the media persons that 20 injured persons are undergoing treatment in hospital and condition of three patients is critical.

Azam Swati said he remained present at the accident site till the completion of the rescue operation.
