Patriata cable car service temporarily suspended for safety upgrade

The cable car service at Patriata has been temporarily suspended as part of safety measures aimed at ensuring the protection of tourists, 24NewsHD TV reported on Tuesday. 

According to Director General (North) of the Tourism Department Muazzam Nazir, the decision was taken following recommendations by international experts, who advised the replacement of the cable car's iron rope to enhance operational safety.

He said a new iron rope would be imported from abroad and the replacement process could take between one and one-and-a-half months to complete.

The cable car service will remain suspended until all safety requirements have been fulfilled.

Despite the closure of the cable car, the Patriata chairlift service remains fully operational and continues to serve visitors safely, Nazir added.

The official also announced several tourism development initiatives for Murree, including a tender for a state-of-the-art safari train for Kashmir Point and the introduction of modern electric carts to improve tourist mobility.

He said work was also underway on a number of major projects, including a glass walkway bridge, new chairlifts, a paragliding club and other modern tourism facilities aimed at enhancing the visitor experience.

Nazir expressed confidence that the completion of these projects would help transform Murree into a model tourist destination.
