SC to announce verdict on Imran Khan’s review petition on June 11

The Supreme Court will announce its reserved verdict on June 11 in a review petition filed by PTI founder Imran Khan against an order that deprived him of the right to defence in a defamation case brought by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

According to court officials, a three-member bench headed by Justice Ayesha A Malik will pronounce the verdict.

The review petition was filed by the PTI founder, challenging a prior decision regarding his right to contest the defamation proceedings initiated by Shehbaz Sharif.

The bench had reserved its judgment after hearing arguments from the parties.

The case stems from a defamation suit filed by Shehbaz Sharif against the PTI founder, with the review petition focusing on the legal question of whether the right to defence was lawfully withdrawn.

The Supreme Court's ruling, scheduled for June 11, is expected to determine the future course of the litigation.
