SHC orders payment of corona allowance to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital house job doctors
A constitutional bench of the Sindh High Court (SHC) on Tuesday ordered the payment of corona allowance to 92 house job doctors of the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Speaking during the hearing, Jibran Nasir, counsel for the petitioners, told the court that a notification had been issued in 2019 for the payment of Rs24,000 in allowance to house job doctors during the coronavirus epidemic. “However, these doctors have not been paid the allowance till this date,” he informed.
He added that each house job doctor was paid monthly salary of Rs45,000. “The amount would have risen to Rs69,000 after the inclusion of the corona allowance.”
Counsel for the Sindh government said that the hospital was governed by the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC), and the provincial government had nothing to do with it.
KMC’s lawyer prayed to the court to reject the petition.
The high court, however, accepted the petition and ordered the payment of allowance to the doctors.
