PTI sends notice to KP governor over election date

March 9, 2023 07:50 PM

Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) on Thursday issued a notice to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Governor Ghulam Ali for not announcing the date for elections to the KP Assembly, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

The notice, sent by PTI’s Taimur Saleem Jhagra, read that despite the Supreme Court’s (SC) verdict on delay in elections to the Punjab and KP assemblies, the governor was reluctant to give the election date.

Ghulam Ali has been urged in the notice to immediately implement the SC’s verdict in letter and spirit. “And in case he does not do so, he would be punishable under Article 6 of the constitution,” read the notice.

KP governor was brought home the fact that in the light of the constitution of Pakistan, elections should be held within 90 days of the dissolution of an assembly.
