CM Maryam announces construction of labour colonies across Punjab


Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif approved important welfare projects in the province, 24NewsHD TV Channel reported on Sunday.
Presiding over a special meeting, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz directed relevant officials to ensure payment of minimum wages amounting to Rs 37,000 to labourers in the province.
She also summoned a comprehensive plan for the construction of different labour colonies in the province. Maryam Nawaz directed to start revamping social security hospitals across Punjab.
The Chief Minister also directed to establish Velence Centers for pre-screening in Lahore, Islamabad, and Rawalpindi. She said that patients will be referred to other hospitals after their screening in Velence Centers.
Maryam Nawaz also approved construction of a new 50-bed Social Security Hospital in Rahim Yar Khan.
The Chief Minister was directed to recommend amendments in labour laws for the welfare of labourers in the province. She directed Provincial Minister for Labor Faisal Ayub Khokar to hold a consultative meeting about labour welfare and sought a plan from him.
Maryam said that Punjab province will set an example for others in the welfare of labourers. She said that the provision of timely wages, medical treatment, and the provision of a house are basic responsibilities of the current government.
Maryam Nawaz said that the current government is taking measures to provide higher education to children of labourers in the province.
