King Charles’ Commonwealth Day Message sparks speculation over Kate Middleton’s omission

A statement from King Charles III has drawn attention amid controversy over Kate Middleton’s exclusion from Buckingham Palace’s International Women’s Day tribute.

On March 8, the palace released a social media post honouring prominent royal women, including Queen Elizabeth II, Queen Victoria, Queen Camilla, Princess Anne, Queen Alexandra, and Duchess Sophie. However, the omission of the Princess of Wales, a future queen consort, raised eyebrows among royal watchers and fueled speculation about her status within the monarchy.

While the palace has remained silent on the matter, King Charles issued a statement hours later, shifting focus to Commonwealth Day and emphasizing themes of unity and resilience during challenging times.

“In these uncertain times, where it is all too easy to believe that our differences are problems instead of a source of strength and an opportunity for learning, the Commonwealth’s remarkable collection of nations and peoples come together in the spirit of support and, crucially, friendship,” the monarch said in his address.

He further highlighted the enduring significance of the Commonwealth, stating, “The Commonwealth’s ability to bring together people from all over the world has stood the test of time and remains as ever-important today.”

King Charles has served as Head of the Commonwealth since September 8, 2022, following the passing of Queen Elizabeth II. This year marks the 76th anniversary of the Commonwealth, which encompasses 56 member states.

Despite widespread speculation, the palace has not provided any clarification regarding Kate Middleton’s exclusion from the tribute, and no senior royal members have publicly addressed the issue. The incident has only intensified discussions about possible tensions within the royal household.
