Petroleum reserves satisfactory, supply chain stable: Aurangzeb chairs review meeting

A high-level meeting to review the country’s petroleum reserves and supply situation was held under the chairmanship of Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb, the Ministry of Finance said.

During the meeting, officials informed the committee that Pakistan’s petroleum product reserves are currently at a satisfactory level and the supply chain across the country is functioning normally.

According to the Ministry of Finance, several cargoes carrying petroleum products are already on their way, which will further strengthen the country’s fuel supply in the coming weeks.

The meeting conducted a detailed review of crude oil imports, refinery operations and shipping arrangements to ensure uninterrupted fuel availability nationwide.

Officials also noted that global crude oil prices are witnessing fluctuations due to prevailing international conditions, but the government is closely monitoring developments in the global energy market.

Finance Minister Aurangzeb said the uninterrupted supply of fuel across the country remains the government’s top priority, adding that timely measures will be taken to maintain stability in the petroleum sector despite uncertainties in the international market.

The ministry said close coordination is being maintained between the federal and provincial governments regarding the availability of petroleum products.

To further strengthen monitoring, the government has decided to improve the inspection system and develop a digital dashboard for real-time monitoring of petroleum reserves and supply.

Aurangzeb said the government is reviewing the energy sector situation on a daily basis and considering various measures for the efficient use and conservation of fuel to ensure long-term stability in the sector.
