Punjab closes all educational institutions until March 31 amid fuel crisis

Punjab has ordered the closure of all educational institutions across the province until March 31 as part of an emergency strategy to conserve fuel amid growing concerns over a looming energy crisis, 24NewsHD TV reported on Monday.

Punjab CM Maryam Nawaz, while conducting a meeting today, announced that all schools, colleges, and higher educational institutions in the province will remain closed starting immediately.

However, examinations will be held according to the previously announced schedule, and institutions have been permitted to conduct online classes during the closure period.

The move comes as Pakistan faces a sharp decline in fuel reserves, prompting the government to introduce nationwide conservation measures aimed at preventing further strain on the country’s energy resources.

Officials said the decision was taken in light of the tense regional situation and fears that the ongoing conflict involving Iran, Israel and the United States could have significant repercussions for Pakistan’s fuel supply and overall economic stability.

According to sources, Pakistan’s current fuel stockpile has fallen to approximately 28 days, raising alarm within government circles about the risk of a wider energy crisis if supplies are disrupted.
