Sahibzada Farhan breaks records, ICC names T20 World Cup XI

The International Cricket Council (ICC) on Monday unveiled its official Team of the Tournament for the T20 World Cup 2026, highlighting the standout performers of the competition.

The selection panel included Ian Bishop, Eoin Morgan, commentator-coach Natalie Germanos, ICC representative Gaurav Saxena, and senior Sri Lankan sports journalist Rex Clementine.

Despite Pakistan exiting the tournament in the Super Eight stage, opener Sahibzada Farhan shone with a record-breaking performance.

He amassed 383 runs in seven matches, the highest ever in a single T20 World Cup edition, and became the first player in T20 World Cup history to score two centuries in one tournament.

His hundred against Sri Lanka in the final Super Eight fixture was pivotal in Pakistan’s narrow five-run victory.

Sanju Samson played a defining role in India’s victorious campaign and was named Player of the Tournament.

Having initially struggled to secure a spot in India’s star-studded XI, Samson seized the moment with a match-winning 97* against the West Indies in the virtual knockout Super Eight game.

He continued his dominant form with scores of 89 in both the semi-final against England and the final against New Zealand, becoming only the second batter to record three consecutive scores of 80+ in T20 World Cup history.

Ishan Kishan also made a significant impact with his aggressive batting at the top of the order.

His three half-centuries were crucial for India, complemented by quickfire contributions of 38 against Zimbabwe and 39 against England.

Pandya is the third Indian batter included, with the all-rounder recognised for his contribution with bat and ball.

Pandya scored two half-centuries with the bat and produced devastating spells when it mattered, including 52 off 28 against Namibia, while he also took nine wickets in all.

Bumrah is the fourth Indian player in the team, with the Player of the Match in the final recognised for his excellent bowling performances.

Bumrah finished as the tournament’s joint-leading wicket taker, with 14 from eight matches.

He finished with figures of four for 15 in the final and posted an economy of 6.21 throughout the tournament.

Aiden Markram is one of two South Africans included in the side, with the Proteas captain scoring 286 – including three half-centuries - as his side reached the semi-finals.

Compatriot Lungi Ngidi is also included, as he took 12 wickets at an average of 15.58.

He took four wickets against Canada and three against both Afghanistan and the West Indies, but also impressed with a miserly spell against India that yielded just 15 runs from four overs.

England’s Will Jacks slots into the middle order thanks to his brilliant displays as an all-rounder as his side reached the last four.

Jacks regularly produced crucial performances to guide England home, including a crucial unbeaten 32 off 18 balls and two for 23 against New Zealand that earned him one of four Player of the Match awards.

Teammate Adil Rashid joins him in the side, after the spinner took 13 wickets at 14.15.

The West Indies’ Jason Holder earns his place in the side thanks to strong performances with bat and ball.

Holder took three wickets against Scotland and four against Nepal before stepping up with the bat in the Super Eights.

The team is rounded out by Zimbabwe’s Blessing Muzarabani, who was key to his side’s stunning group stage performances. Muzarabani took four for 17 as Zimbabwe beat Australia and finished the group stage with nine wickets.

The team’s 12th player is Shadley van Schalkwyk, who took 13 wickets for the USA at a rate of just 6.84 and economy of 6.80.
