Politicking for the slot of Karachi Mayor has begun as a delegation of Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) will call on the leaders of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) while Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) has contacted Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI), reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

The PPP ranks first with 89 seats in the local bodies’ by-elections while the JI ranks second with 86 seats.

The PTI ranks third with 42 seats while the election commission withheld the results of six seats.

At least 124 votes are required for the mayor’s seat. The reserved seats are yet to be announced. The final decision will be made after the announcement of the reserved seats.

The PPP claims to have 110 seats with the support of the allies, whereas, the combined seats of the JI and the PTI are 128.

The JI and the PTI together can make the deputy mayor successful. The PPP had offered the seat of deputy mayor to the JI.

Meanwhile, the PTI announced not to go into an alliance with the PPP.

The PPP has contacted the JI, and a PPP delegation will soon visit Idarah Noor-e-Haq.
