Japanese FM urges restraint in call with Dar amid escalating Pakistan-India tensions

Japanese Foreign Minister Iwaya Takeshi held a telephonic conversation on Friday with Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, voicing serious concern over the rapidly deteriorating situation between Pakistan and India.

During the call, the Japanese foreign minister extended his condolences over the loss of innocent civilian lives in Pakistan, following Indian military strikes that have reportedly targeted multiple cities. He stressed the need for dialogue and diplomacy, urging both countries to exercise restraint and prevent further escalation.

In response, Foreign Minister Dar briefed his Japanese counterpart on the unprovoked Indian aggression, which he said resulted in the martyrdom of civilians, including women, children, and the elderly. He underscored that India's actions constituted a clear violation of international law and the United Nations Charter.

Dar reiterated that Pakistan has acted with restraint despite repeated provocations but affirmed the country’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding its sovereignty and territorial integrity.
