PPP lawmaker submits resolution in NA against 24News suspension

Pakistan People’s Party PPP lawmaker Mehreen Razak Bhutto submitted a condemnation resolution in the National Assembly condemning the closure of 24NewsHD TV channel.
The resolution reads: “This House demands from Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) that the license of 24 news channels should be restored immediately.”
The resolution condemned the suspension of 24NewsHD TV channel in the strongest possible words.
“24 News has been suspended for more than 70 days and if it remains suspended for a few more days then more than 900 employees will lose their jobs,” the resolution reads.
PPP Mehreen Razak Bhutto’s condemnation resolution stated a large number of media workers have become unemployed from other media houses already and thousands of employees' careers are linked with the 24 News.
“This house urges PEMRA to restore the 24 News immediately to promote the media culture in the country,” the resolution reads.
In a tweet, PML-N General Secretary Ahsan Iqbal said:” Strongly condemn the ban on 24News. It is an attack on freedom of expression and shows fascist mindset of the Imran regime.”

Moreover, journalists gathered outside the Kalat Press Club to lodge their protest against 24 News licence suspension. Protesters said 24 News contributed a lot in raising poor people
Journalists demanded immediate restoration of the 24NewsHD TV channel.
