Amid the unending complaints about being ignored, powerless and resource-less, the Punjab government has now devised a new formula to please the parliamentarians who will now be able to use the local government funds, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Friday.
This newly-devised mechanism approved by Chief Minister Usman Buzdar recommends that the lawmakers, who are elected to legislate and deal with the policy affairs, will instead plan development projects according to their priorities and liking through the budget reserved for local governments.
And this amount is huge: Rs36 billion which may be corresponding to the 36 districts in the province.
So this amount would be divided among the National Assembly and the Punjab Assembly members with a 40:60 ratio in every district.
Earlier, it was reported that the PTI office-bearers expressed their anger over being neglected despite being in the government as they met Punjab Law Minister Basharat Raja.
According to this delegation, no one even pays attention to them in police stations or any other government department. They are the PTI officeholders but do not have any powers.
Where they should go. They were able to get some favours when in the opposition but the things have changed for the worse after the election victory in 2018, the list of grievances included these remarks among other points.
Speaking on the occasion, Basharat assured them of sharing their reservations with Buzdar and arranging a meeting with the CCPO Lahore.
