Punjab to buy 40 vehicles worth Rs 300 million

The Punjab government is busy buying luxury vehicles without bothering about the financial crunch and flood calamity across the country, reported 24NewsHD TV Channel Friday.
According to official documents, as many as 40 vehicles worth Rs 30 crore rupees will be purchased for the Punjab Chief Minister House and Cabinet members. The vehicles include four Toyota Fortuner, three Revo Double Cabin and nineteen Toyota Corolla Altis Grande will be purchased for the Chief Minister Secretariat. Fourteen Toyota Corolla Altis Grande will also be purchased for the use of the Cabinet members.
Transport Wing Punjab has sent a summary to the Finance Department for the release of 30 crore rupees for the purchase of vehicles.
Earlier, 36 vehicles worth Rs. 18.64 million were purchased for the ministers during Buzdar’s regime.
Sources said that the purchase of vehicles is prohibited under the austerity campaign. However, the approval for the purchase of these vehicles will be taken from the Standing Cabinet Committee on Finance, after which the provincial cabinet will give its approval separately.
