The number of coronavirus cases in Pakistan crossed the 2,000 mark on Tuesday night, as the number of infections rose to 2007.

Punjab is taking the lead with 708 confirmed COVID-19 cases, five recoveries and nine deaths. Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar confirmed this tally in tweet late on Tuesday evening.

The situation in other provinces is as following: Sindh has 676 cases with 51 recoveries and eight deaths, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 253 cases with four recoveries and six deaths, Balochistan 158 cases with 17 recoveries and one death, Gilgit-Baltistan 148 cases with four recoveries and two deaths, Federal Capital 58 cases with three recoveries and Azad Kashmir six cases.

The number of coronavirus cases in Pakistan has seen a steady increase since February 26 when the first coronavirus case was reported in Karachi, capital of the Sindh Province. As the government and its institutions struggle to contain the virus in a country already facing multiple financial and security issues, most part of the country has been put under a lockdown.
