Aisha Nawaz, one of the dissident MPAs of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), has appealed to the Supreme Court to suspend disqualifications of 25 dissident PTI MPAs by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) till the apex court’s decision, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Aisha Nawaz was the second PTI dissident to move to the Supreme Court after Zahra Batool who had also filed an appeal on May 30 last praying the apex court to reverse the disqualifications.

In her appeal, she also pleaded with the apex court to annul the ECP’s decision of de-notifying the dissident PTI MPAs, stating that the decision was made against the law.

“The ECP violated the principles laid down in the decisions of the Supreme Court,” she said, adding that the declaration of the party leader was not in accordance with the law.

“The ECP’s decision did not differentiate between the posts of the party chief and the parliamentary chief,” she stated.

“The PTI did not issue show-cause notices as per the law,” she maintained and added that under the law, issuing show-cause notice was mandatory.

“The PTI MPAs had no instructions from the party chief for casting vote in Punjab Assembly,” she said.

“The person who filed the reference did so because of his defeat,” she added.

On May 30, Zahra Bahtool had moved the Supreme Court against the decision of Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) which de-notified 25 PTI MPAs. She had filed an appeal in the Supreme Court against the decision of the ECP, pleading the court to declare the decision of the ECP null and void. “No direction was issued by the parliamentary party in the election of Punjab Chief Minister,” she had argued in her appeal.

“No meeting of the parliamentary party was held and no policy was decided,” she stated, adding that the ECP’s decision contrary to the facts could not be upheld.
