PML-N president Shehbaz Sharif on Friday rejected the reduction in POL prices by terming it insufficient and said the benefit of overall decline in oil prices in international market wasn’t being transferred to the people.

The government should at least transfer the benefits of low oil prices to the people given that it neither give an economic package nor any relief, he added.

In a statement shared on the party’s official Twitter account, Shehbaz said Pakistan did not buy oil after the reduction of prices in international market, the consequences of which were being faced by the people.

Asking the government to reduce the petrol and diesel prices to Rs50 per litre, he said not procuring oil at the historic low rate was a criminal act and incompetence.

The government is wasting the opportunity and time again as relief should have been provided to the people by buying oil at a low price, he added.

Stressing the need for reducing the electricity and gas tariffs by 50 percent or by at least 33 percent, the PML-N president said the people should get relief amid the financial problems they were facing.

The government won’t experience any loss if the petrol and diesel prices are reduced to Rs50 per litre, he explained his point and remarked that those promising of providing petrol at the rate of Rs47 were not ready to give their rights to consumers.

Shehbaz said reducing the petrol and diesel prices would also result in slashing the rate of daily use items and thus improving economic situation.

The statement came as the government increased the LPG (liquefied petroleum gas) price by Rs22 per kilogramme soon after the reduction in the petroleum products’ rates.

In her tweets, Marriyum said Imran’s confusion had confused the entire country and his mental problem was causing irreparable loss to the nation. His state of mind is a sign of any unfortunate happening in the country, she warned.

Asking Imran to avoid speaking at a time when the nation is fighting the coronavirus, the PML-N spokesperson asked the prime minister to consult doctors to tackle his confused mind.

Marriyum added that the prime minister had neither been able to provide relief to the poor like daily wagers nor could supply personal care equipment to healthcare professionals.
