Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government Tuesday decided to abolish the special quota of the arms licensing of the members of the parliament (MPs).
According to the 24News HD TV channel, the federal cabinet had taken the decision to revise the quota policy of the parliamentarians.
The federal cabinet restricted the parliamentarians to get only one arm license that could be issued on their own name.
Parliamentarians in future could not issue arms licenses to their blue-eyed people as the police had been changed.
In the past governments, arms licenses were issued in a bulk, even arms licenses of some prohibited bore were issued in the name of parliamentarians’ quota system.
In the last PPP government, as many as 0.2 million arms licenses were issued in which 0.1 million licenses for AK-47 (Kalashnikovs) and 222 rifles were issued.
The federal cabinet has already approved the issuance of arms licenses to the interior ministry.
