Pakistan Railways recover only 59% of stolen goods in five years
Pakistan Railways issued new statistics about stolen and recovered goods during the last five years, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Monday.
According to details, goods worth Rs221.916 million were stolen from the custody of Pakistan Railways, and Pakistan Railways could only recover goods worth Rs131.345 million; thus, only 59 percent of the value of the stolen goods was recovered.
Pakistan Railways police miserably failed to recover the stolen goods. Various Pakistan Railways employees were also involved in this crime.
4,403 cases were filed against employees of Pakistan who were involved in different cases of corruption and theft of Pakistan Railways goods.
11 cases were filed against the employees of Pakistan Railways. 7 employees of Pakistan Railways were dismissed from service, and salary of three employees were decreased and a show-cause notice was issued to one employee.
2,927 Pakistan Railways employees were awarded punishment. Investigations of 152 is underway, and 44 theft cases have become untraceable.
