Prime Minister Imran Khan will inaugurate a two-day international conference on Afghan refugees in Islamabad next Monday which will also be attended by

United Nations General Secretary Antonio Guterres.

The moot titled “40 years of Afghan Refugees Presence in Pakistan: A New Partnership for Solidarity” will be arranged on 17th and 18th February in Islamabad.

The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) will co-host the event, which would be attended by senior state officials from 20 countries.

Representatives of several refugee agencies, Non-Government Organisations, and multilateral development banks would also attend the conference, which aims to identify the challenges for voluntary, dignified and sustainable repatriation of the refugees to Afghanistan.

The event is being organized at a time when efforts at achieving sustainable peace in Afghanistan are making progress.

UN chief, who will be leading a 14-member team, will also hold meetings with Prime Minister Imran Khan, President Arif Alvi and other top officials during his visit, besides visiting UN mission offices in the country, officials said.
