Special Assistant to Chief Minister on Information Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan has termed agriculture as the most important sector for the national economy, adding that this is why the agriculture sector is among the priorities of the government.

These views were expressed by the Special Assistant to CM while addressing a press conference flanked by Provincial Minister for Agriculture Syed Hussain Jahanian Gardezi here at the DGPR office on Wednesday.

Talking to the media, Dr Firdous said the government is committed to increasing agricultural productivity by providing every possible incentive to farmers in the provision of fertilizers, electricity and water, etc. She said that Punjab used to provide food to 70 percent of the country’s population but had regrettably fallen back due to destructive policies of the former governments which devastated the agriculture sector.

The Special Assistant said the opposition has started using a section of government employees for its political agenda after rejection by the general public. She termed Imran Khan as the ‘giant’ among the pygmies and advised Maulana not to challenge Imran Khan in the political arena because everyone knows his political worth. Imran Khan has knocked the PDM to the ground and now it is continuously screaming, she said.

Dr Firdous said the former rulers only benefited their kith and kin for a long period of forty years and continuously sucked the blood of the nation. The PDM is taking its last breath while trying to reinvent its dead politics, she said.

The Special Assistant said the pioneer of briefcase politics is hiding in London and both Nawaz Sharif and Zardari are the founders of monetary politics, adding that the opponents of open balloting are in favor of giving respect to money instead of honoring the sanctity of vote. She said that those who used the money for making it to the Parliament are only interested in minting money but Imran Khan wants to put an end to horse-trading once and for all.

Dr Firdouas said that Maulana couldn’t make it to the Parliament by using the elbows of political infants. Imran Khan has put an end to the menace of NRO, now no corrupt will ever succeed in washing its dirty linen for resurfacing in politics with a new face, she emphasized. She said that Maulana is the ‘tot batot’ of PDM and is just a ‘showboy’ for entertaining the spectators who has been kept confined to the stage.
