National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaisar Thursday called on Punjab Assembly Speaker and Acting Governor Chaudhry Parvez Elahi, both discussed political situation, parliamentary affairs and issues of mutual interest at Governor House in Lahore, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Both the leaders also discussed in detail the matter of local government (LG) elections.

In the meeting with Speaker Qaisar, Elahi also shed a light on the Punjab Local Body Amendment Bill.

Acting Governor Elahi also said that the strong LG institutions could play an anchoring role to resort the public issues.

Elahi said that will try to give maximum powers to the representatives, elected in the Local Body Amendment Bill. He added that it is important to empower the representative so that they could resolve public issues at the lower level.

Asad Qaisar said the political representatives could provide relief to the masses through effective legislation.

Qaisar added that the maximum time is given to the parliamentarians in the House to discuss problems faced by the masses.

MNAs Junaid Akbar, Saleh Muhammad, Dr Haider Ali and Secretary Punjab Assembly Muhammad Khan Bhatti were present during the meeting.
