Court extends Imran’s bail in ECP violence case until Feb 27

Extending the interim bail granted to former prime minister and PTI Chairman Imran Khan until February 27 in the case of violence outside the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) building following a verdict in the Toshakhana reference, a court in Islamabad on Friday directed Imran to submit his written reply on the next hearing, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

The court also exempted the PTI chief from appearance on medical grounds.

Babar Awan, counsel for Imran, and Mohsin Shah Nawaz Ranjha, the petitioner, appeared in the court.

When Awan filed an application in the court for the exemption of his client from appearance, the judge asked him how many days it would take Imran to recover.

Awan replied it would still take 20 to 25 days for him to recover. “Imran’s medical report is attached,” his counsel told the court.

Ranjha said that Imran talked about justice, but not once did he appear before police. “I don’t think he would come to the court for the next six months. Her injuries are merely a lame excuse. The excuse is given whenever there is hearing of his case; otherwise, he is fit,” Ranjha said.

Awan retorted and reminded him that his leader Nawaz Sharif had been in London for the last two years for the treatment of his platelets.
