Welcome to FJMU: White-coat ceremony marks beginning of MBBS students

A prestigious white-coat ceremony was held at Fatima Jinnah Medical University (FJMU) to welcome the newly admitted first-year MBBS students.

The Vice-Chancellor of FJMU, Prof Khalid Masood Gondal, graced the occasion as the chief guest. The ceremony commenced with the recitation of the Holy Quran. Principal Prof. Abdul Hamid welcomed all participants, expressing his pride in the students.

"You are the pride of our country," Prof. Abdul Hamid stated, urging students to work hard and strive for self-improvement. He reminded them of their key responsibility to serve their nation and community with dedication and integrity. He urged them to wear the white coat with dignity, as it symbolizes the values and ethics expected of medical professionals.

Addressing the gathering, Prof Gondal congratulated the students and their parents, acknowledging their sacrifices and dedication.

"On this day, the real congratulations go to the parents whose hard work and prayers have brought you to this place," he remarked. He encouraged students to respect their parents and teachers, exhibit diligence in their studies, and maintain unwavering love for their country, Pakistan.

Prof Bilquis Shabbir provided a briefing on the university's ranking and quality assurance, highlighting the role of innovation in enhancing the institution’s performance. She emphasized the contributions of the Quality Enhancement Cell in improving academic standards. Reflecting on her journey, she shared, "I am also a graduate of this institution, and my success in life is because of Fatima Jinnah Medical University."

Prof Alia Zahid administered the oath to the first-year MBBS class, officially welcoming them to the university. Registrar Prof. Mohammad Nadeem advised students to wear the white coat with a deep sense of responsibility, as it represents peace, compassion, and care.

The Heads of the Anatomy, Physiology, and Biochemistry Departments congratulated the students and provided brief overviews of their respective departments.

Prof Gondal presented a history book to Ms Aiman Ansar, who topped the merit list, as a token of recognition for her outstanding achievement.
