Pakistan hosts informal meeting of D-8 Commissioners in Lahore

Pakistan hosted an informal meeting of D-8 Commissioners in Lahore on February 5-6, reported 24NewsHD TV Channel.

Foreign Office Spokesperson Tahir Hussain Andrabi said that the aim of the informal meeting was to strengthen the D-8 Secretariat and approve financial and administrative matters. Andrabi said Commissioners from all D-8 member countries attended the informal meeting, Secretary General D-8, Ambassador Sohail Mahmood also attended the meeting.

Foreign Office Spokesperson said that the cooperation and institutional functioning between member countries and the Secretariat were discussed in the informal meeting.

D-8 delegations visited historical and cultural sites of Lahore including Wagah Border, Shalimar Gardens, Lahore Fort and Badshahi Mosque.

Tahir Andrabi said that the delegations also attended the Basant Festival at Punch House Lahore.

Foreign Office spokesperson said Senior Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb and Minister for Agriculture Syed Ishaq Hussain Kirmani welcomed the guests. The dignitaries expressed satisfaction over the successful hosting of the meeting and the hospitality extended by the Government of Pakistan.

Foreign Office Spokesperson said the guests reiterated their commitment to further strengthen cultural ties, economic cooperation and people-to-people exchanges.

 Pakistan conveys condolences over floods related losses in Syria

Government and people of Pakistan, Tuesday, extended their deepest condolences to the Government and people of the Syrian Arab Republic over the tragic loss of precious lives and material damage caused by the recent flash floods in north-west Syria, particularly in the regions of Idlib and Latakia.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families, and we wish a speedy recovery to those injured as a result of this natural disaster. We stand in solidarity with the Government and people of Syria at this moment of grief,” the Foreign Office Spokesperson said in a press release.
