Chained woman rescued in Karachi’s Defence Phase 5, husband on the run
Karachi police on Saturday rescued a woman who had been illegally confined and chained by her husband inside an apartment in Defence Phase 5 during a swift operation carried out on the basis of information received on emergency helpline 15.
According to police officials, the police team reached the relevant address and proceeded to the third floor of a residential building, where they broke open the door of the apartment. Inside, a woman was found chained in a room. The police cut the chain and safely rescued her.
The woman was identified as Fatima, a resident of Shireen Jinnah Colony. Police said she had separated from her husband earlier. The accused husband allegedly called her to the apartment on the pretext of paying child support, chained her inside the house, and fled the scene at around 9:30 am.
After the rescue, Fatima was shifted to the police station for protection and further legal proceedings. Police confirmed that two cases related to the matter are already pending in court.
The accused husband is currently absconding, and police said raids are underway at various locations to arrest him. Further investigation into the incident is in progress.
