Islamabad Bar Association annual elections today
Polling for the annual elections of the Islamabad Bar Association (IBA) is being held today, with more than 4,200 lawyers set to exercise their right to vote.
According to the election schedule, polling will continue from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, with a one-hour break from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm. Voting is being conducted for a total of six key seats of the Islamabad Bar Association, while some positions, including editor and executive members, have already been elected unopposed.
A total of 14 candidates are contesting the elections, including six women lawyers, reflecting active participation across the legal community. A tough contest is expected for the coveted post of president between Naeem Gujjar and Raja Yasir Shakeel. Shabana Rafique and Mian Muhammad Arshad Javed are also in the race for senior positions.
For the post of secretary, Raja Khawar Dhaniyal and Muhammad Sohail Khurshid Gujjar are competing, while Iram Rasheed and Balqiyar Mahmood Khattak are contesting for the position of vice president.
The race for joint secretary features Imran Khan Kakar and Sanaullah Bugti. Meanwhile, Asma Bashir Bangshan and Fariha Jafar Bajwa are also trying their luck in the elections.
For the post of library secretary, Syeda Nazish Naqvi and Dur-e-Najaf are facing each other in a closely watched contest.
Election officials said arrangements have been finalized to ensure a smooth and transparent polling process. Results are expected to be announced after the completion of voting and counting later today.
