Ch Shujaat underscores need to start national dialogue

Calls upon Army and judiciary to push for it: Asks politicians to stay away from personal attacks: Ch Pervaiz says no differences with Shujaat; hopes to inflict defeat on PML-N in Punjab by-elections

July 10, 2022 04:37 PM

PML-Q senior leader Ch Shujaat Hussain has underscored the need to start a national dialogue while emphasizing on lowering the political confrontation.

In a special talk with 24NewsHD TV channel on the occasion of Eidul Azha on Sunday, Ch Shujaat greeted the whole nation on this auspicious occasion.

The seasoned leader said that in the backdrop of current political situation, the national dialogue was the need of the hour to bring the country out of crises. He proposed that Army and judiciary could initiate the national dialogue. “If these two institutions sit together and decide about the national dialogue, then everyone will accept their decision,” he propounded adding that everyone should sit together for the political and economic stability of the country.  He warned if we failed to hold national dialogue then we had to face the consequences.

At the same time, the senior leader emphasized that the Pak Army should not be made controversial.

Shujaat was also of the view that the conditions that were being created for holding early election, did not auger well for the national security. He said the political leadership was facing criticism. Criticism for the sake of criticism is not good, rather it should be for the sake of reform, he said cautioning that political rivalry should not lead to personal attacks.

Meanwhile, PML-Q President Ch Pervaiz Elahi who was in his native town Gujrat to celebrate Eidul Azha denied any confrontation with Ch Shujaat. He said that Ch Shujaat was like a patriarch in the family. He prayed for his health and long life.

However, Elahi was of the view that the Sharifs would meet a humiliating defeat in the Punjab by-election slated to be held on July 17.

Elahi offered Eid prayers in Gujrat along with Ch Wajahat Hussain, Moonis Elahi and Hussain Elahi.

The Chaudhrys prayed for the security of the country in their Eid Nimaz.

After saying prayers, Elahi talked to media. He said Eidul Azha teaches us a lesson of sacrifice. He stated that the current political situation in the country also demanded sacrifice from us. “People must cast their vote in favour of ‘Bat’ on July 17 to rid the country of inept rulers whose flawed policies have brought the country to the verge of economic collapse,” he added.

Elahi hoped that people would reject turncoats in the by-election and vote for the PTI candidates. He lamented that the Sharifs would always rig elections and use government machinery to suppress their opponents.

He called upon the Supreme Court to take notice of the development schemes being announced by the Punjab government in clear violation of election code.
