Family matters should not land in Supreme Court, says CJP

The Supreme Court (SC) on Thursday rejected an appeal filed against fixing the monthly expenses of a child at Rs25,000, reported 24NewsHD TV channel. 

A two-member SC bench, headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Yahya Afridi, heard the appeal.

In his remarks, Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Yahya Afridi said that appeals related to payment of expenses to family members should not land in the apex court. “Lower courts should decide such appeals,” he said, and added, “The SC has nothing to do with such appeals.”

During the hearing, counsel for the petitioner said that monthly expenditures of Rs25,000 for a child were too much. 

Justice Shakil Ahmad remarked, “If the child is yours. Then it is not a tough ask.”
