Momina Iqbal shuts down speculations about her gender identity
Renowned Pakistani actress Momina Iqbal, in an interview with the well-known host Hasan Chaudhry for the show Something Haute, addressed ongoing rumors surrounding her gender identity.
In case the readers are not aware, there were swirling rumors claiming that the actress is a ‘transgender’ and was disowned by her family. It all emerged after an 'edited version' of her interview with Fuchsia Magazine.
Moving on in the latest rounds of events, in the interview session at the show, the host expressed to Momina that he had heard some useless news regarding her, which was quite odd to talk about. He asked her if she wanted to address it.
Momina, who understood the implications of the host, decided to delve into the matter, offering a thorough response to clarify the rumors.
Talking about the same, she said: “I got calls from people asking me to give interviews. Even reporters called me to ask if I was a woman.”
She shared that she often told her mother she wanted to address the controversy and put an end to it once and for all. However, her mother always remained calm and unbothered, and that reassuring attitude gave her a sense of relief.”
“Issues were happening. I am an impulsive person, so I had to discuss it immediately, but I got busy with my shoots and completely forgot the matter. But the initial two days were traumatizing,” she added.
Talking about her friends’ reaction to the rumors, she said that they were all talking about it in a funny way.
“The video addressing the rumor garnered 45 million views. That’s when I realized the matter had gotten out of hand. Everyone was urging me to make a statement, but I wasn’t comfortable. I genuinely didn’t know how to address it or clear things up,” she said.
She concluded her stance by saying, “If I were transgender, I would have owned it very gracefully. But if there’s nothing related to the rumors, then what should I address?”
