Nida Yasir shares advice for parents on raising children
Pakistani television host Nida Yasir has urged parents to give their children more independence.
Nida said solo travel can help them become confident and capable adults.
Speaking during a television show, Nida said parents should focus on creating meaningful experiences and memories for their children instead of only investing in property, jewelry or other material possessions.
She believes practical life skills are just as important as academic education.
The host pointed out that many young people are so overprotected that they struggle with simple tasks such as crossing a road on their own.
She said children need to learn how to handle everyday challenges because parents will not always be there to guide them.
Nida explained that families begin with small steps, such as allowing children to travel independently between cities like Karachi and Lahore or even take short trips on their own.
She added that South Asian parents often hesitate to let their children travel alone, but giving them such opportunities helps build confidence and prepares them for real life.
Nida Yasir is one of Pakistan's best-known television hosts and producers.
She has hosted Good Morning Pakistan since 2011 and is married to actor and director Yasir Nawaz. Together, they have three children.
