A young driver performed a heroic task when he averted a big disaster and saved scores of human lives and property worth millions with his valour and extraordinary courage in Quetta, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Friday.

According to details, an oil tanker being driven by Muhammad Faisal caught fire when he parked the freighter in order to empty fuel into the petrol pump in Saryab area of Quetta. But during the fuel transfer process, a fire was kindled on the rear side of the oil tanker.

When driver Faisal saw his tanker on fire, he had to make his decision in a split second – either he must leave the vehicle and let everything to be consumed in the ensuing inferno or hurriedly drive it away, far from the petrol pump.

The courageous driver opted for the second option and sprinted towards his tanker. He revved the engine and sped the burning oil tanker away almost 3km from the populated area.

He put his life in extreme danger in order to save lives of scores of other people.

“While driving the burning oil tanker, every single moment I thought it was the end of my life. But since the fate has not chosen death for me as yet, I escaped it despite having a close brush with it,” Faisal said.

He said that it would remain the most memorable incident of his life because if he had failed to act in the nick of time, several lives would have been perished.

The oil tanker and petrol pump belonged to Saeed Ahmad Shahwani who was all praise for Faisal who showed extraordinary courage.

The Balochistan government also recognized Faisal’s bravery and Chief Minister Abdul Qadoos Bizenjo announced Rs0.5 million reward for the valiant driver.
