Pakistan announces 15-member squad for Asian Games 2026
Men’s T20 cricket competition to begin on 24 September in Japan: Sahibzada Farhan appointed captain, with Abdul Samad named vice-captain
Pakistan have announced a 15-member squad for the men’s cricket competition at the Asian Games 2026, with Sahibzada Farhan appointed captain of the national side.
The men’s T20 International matches at the Asian Games are scheduled to begin on 24 September in Aichi, Japan, while the medal matches will be played on 3 October.
According to the 24NewsHD TV channel, thirty-year-old Sahibzada Farhan will lead the team during the tournament, while Abdul Samad has been named vice-captain.
Farhan has represented Pakistan in 46 T20 International matches and scored 1,305 runs, including two centuries and 10 half-centuries.
The squad also includes several emerging players, with Akif Javed, Ali Raza, Maaz Sadaqat and Saad Masood all awaiting their first opportunity to represent Pakistan at the T20 international level.
Out of the 15 selected players, 14 will also take part in the National Cricket Academy’s white-ball training camp, which is set to begin in Lahore on 15 June.
The men’s cricket event at the Asian Games 2026 will be held at Korogi Athletic Park in Japan’s Aichi Prefecture.
Pakistan’s 15-member squad includes Sahibzada Farhan (captain), Abdul Samad (vice-captain), Abrar Ahmed, Ahmed Daniyal, Akif Javed, Ali Raza, Arafat Minhas, Haider Ali, Hasan Nawaz, Maaz Sadaqat, Mohammad Salman Mirza, Saad Masood, Saim Ayub, Sufiyan Muqeem and Usman Khan.
