PCB takes notice of unapproved T20 tournament in Rawalpindi

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Wednesday issued a stern warning to players, officials and other stakeholders against participating in a proposed T20 tournament in Rawalpindi that has not received the board's approval.

In a statement, the PCB clarified that the tournament organizers have failed to obtain the mandatory No Objection Certificate (NOC) required for staging the event. The board emphasized that the competition is not sanctioned and therefore falls outside the regulatory framework governing cricket activities in the country.

The PCB directed all registered cricketers, including centrally contracted and domestic contracted players, to refrain from taking part in the tournament. Similar warnings were issued to coaches, support staff, match officials and all individuals associated with cricket operations.

According to the board, participation in an unsanctioned cricket event would constitute a violation of PCB regulations and disciplinary codes. The PCB reiterated that it reserves the right to take appropriate action against any player or official found to be involved in the tournament.

The cricket governing body also advised broadcasters, sponsors and other commercial entities to carefully review any association with the proposed event, noting that it lacks official authorization.

Furthermore, the PCB stated that the player draft ceremony planned for the tournament cannot be conducted without prior approval from the board, underscoring its commitment to ensuring that all cricket activities are carried out in accordance with established rules and procedures.

The warning comes as the PCB continues its efforts to regulate domestic cricket and protect the integrity of the game by preventing participation in unauthorized competitions.
