The federal cabinet in its meeting today discussed a range of issues including a briefing on coronavirus, inflation and the unexplained food crisis.
During the cabinet meeting, the PM reportedly expressed anger at the relevant authorities for not presenting the comprehensive report detailing the reasons that led to the wheat and sugar crises.
Calling a spade a spade, the PM said “I’ve made a promise to the people of Pakistan to bring those to justice who’re behind this artificially created food crisis,” and ordered the FIA to submit the final report as soon as possible.
PM Imran will call a meeting regarding the sugar crisis within a week and reportedly will make it inform the people when the report on sugar crisis will be published.
After the cabinet meeting, Special Assistant to PM Firdous Ashiq Awan said “Coronavirus issue was briefed in the meeting,” adding that now it is mandatory in various ministries to conduct the coronavirus test.
She said the cabinet also decided the uniform pay scales for the government officials and added that Zulfi Bukhari and Zafar Mirza informed the parents of the students who are stuck in China, the birthplace of coronavirus.
However, Firdous said that for now, the situation is under control regarding the coronavirus, adding that the people’s lives are safe.
She said that cabinet has decided to extend the authorities of the committee looking into the sugar crisis, adding “We’re also ascertaining the reasons why the competition commission that had to nab the cartel mafia has reduced itself into a silent spectator.”
