Dr Yasmin inaugurates research unit in Rawalpindi Medical University

Punjab Health Minister Dr Yasmin Rashid inaugurated the research unit in Rawalpindi Medical University on Wednesday.

Additional Secretary Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education Department Dr Asif Tufail, Vice-Chancellor Rawalpindi Medical University Professor Dr Umar and other faculty members were also present on the occasion.

Health Minister Dr Yasmin Rashid said special attention is being paid to the research work in the teaching institutes. Research papers of Punjab’s medical institutions are being published at the international level.

She said research is the only method for introducing our medical students to the modern and latest knowledge and development. Our brilliant students are bringing laurels for the country, she added.

The Health Minister also chaired the 9th syndicate meeting of the Rawalpindi Medical University. Vice-Chancellor and syndicate members were also present on this occasion. The registrar presented agenda items of the Rawalpindi Medical University’s syndicate meeting.

The Health Minister gave approval of all the decisions taken in the 8th syndicate meeting. The meeting also gave approval for the syllabus for MD and MS degrees for the current year. The meeting further approved PhD program for Micro Biology and Molecular Biology.

The approval was also granted for affiliation with Watim Medical College with Rawalpindi Medical University. The syndicate also approved transport fund for the medical university and filling the vacant positions in the university for the fiscal year 2020-21.
