Afghan Taliban flee posts after Pakistan Army launches strikes in Arandu sector
Security forces destroy several Afghan posts in Arandu and Kurram sectors: Joint combing operations against illegal Afghans continue in different cities: Nine Afghan citizens arrested from Attock, Murree and Jehlum
Pakistan’s armed forces have carried out effective strikes and counter-operations against the Afghan Taliban and Fitna al-Khawarij in the Arandu and Kurram sectors along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, the 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Tuesday.
According to the security sources, Pakistani troops launched a timely operation in the Arandu and Kurram sectors, destroying several key posts and operational centres.
During the strikes and retaliatory actions, the Afghan Taliban and Khawarij abandoned their positions and fled the area.
Security officials said the Pakistani military was specifically targeting hideouts and military installations associated with the Afghan Taliban and Fitna al-Khawarij.
Separately, joint search and combing operations were conducted in Attock, Murree and Jhelum due to security concerns.
During the operations, nine illegal Afghan nationals were arrested. Five Afghan nationals were detained in Murree, and cases were registered against them under the Foreigners Act.
Two illegal Afghan nationals were arrested in Attock, where cases were filed against them under the Tenancy Act, officials said.
Meanwhile, Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations (UN), Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, told the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) that the Taliban regime was violating the Doha Agreement.
Addressing the council, he said the Taliban regime had launched an unprovoked attack on Pakistan on February 26.
He added that terrorist groups operating from Afghanistan posed a threat to the entire world and were carrying out suicide attacks in Pakistan, resulting in the deaths of innocent civilians.
He reiterated that Pakistan seeks a peaceful and stable Afghanistan.
Meanwhile, the United States has designated Afghanistan as a state sponsoring wrongful detention. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said the Afghan Taliban were using detention tactics as leverage to gain policy concessions.
Rubio urged the immediate release of all American citizens allegedly being held unjustly in Afghanistan.
