China warns of rising terror threat from Afghanistan

China has warned that terrorists operating from Afghanistan under the Taliban regime poses a serious threat to regional peace and stability, urging the Afghan authorities to eliminate all terrorist groups operating from their territory.

China’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Fu Cong, strongly criticised the Taliban administration, stating that several terrorist organisations continue to operate inside Afghanistan. According to him, groups such as East Turkestan Islamic Movement, Islamic State – Khorasan Province and others remain active in the country.

He warned that the presence of these organisations poses a serious threat not only to Afghanistan but also to its neighbouring countries and the wider region. Fu Cong noted that Chinese citizens have also been targeted in terrorist attacks in Afghanistan, resulting in multiple deaths.

China, he said, strongly condemns all forms of terrorism emanating from Afghan territory and urged the Afghan Taliban to understand the seriousness of the threat. He stressed that the Taliban must take concrete steps to completely eliminate all terrorist elements operating from Afghan soil.

According to international experts, the growing presence of militant groups in Afghanistan has increased global pressure on the Taliban authorities. Analysts believe that Afghanistan has increasingly become a haven for terrorists under the current regime.

Experts warned that emerging regional alignments, including cooperation between India and Afghanistan, could create additional challenges for regional stability. They added that voices from across the world are increasingly echoing Pakistan’s concerns that the Afghan Taliban are involved in supporting terrorist elements operating in the region.
