According to the Cabinet Division’s notification, Omar Sarfraz Cheema was told that he had been removed from his office and Punjab Assembly speaker Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi would be acting governor.

Similarly, Supreme Court Bar Association President Ahsan Bhoon, Pakistan Bar Vice Chairman Hafeezur Rehman and High Court Bar President Sardar Akbar Ali Dogar also said that the president had no power to reject the prime minister’s advice to relieve the governor of his duties.
Around 11 hours back, 24News reported that Punjab Governor Omer Sarfraz Cheema had been removed, and that the Cabinet Division had issued a notification in this regard in which it was stated that Punjab Assembly Speaker Chaudhry Parvez Elahi was now the acting governor and would remain so until a fresh appointment was made.
And only hours before that, President Arif Alvi had rejected the prime minister’s advice for relieving the governor of his duties.
