Educational institutes in Punjab closed for next two days, Army called in Mianwali

Caretaker Government of Punjab Wednesday announced closing educational institutes for next two days while Pak Army troops have been called in Mianwali due to riots that erupted in the province after the arrest of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on corruption charges.

According to the 24News HD TV channel, the Punjab government has approved the closure of colleges and universities for two more days while medical colleges will remain open as usual. The decision to close schools will be made late at night.

A special meeting was held under the chairmanship of Punjab Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi in which important decisions were taken to maintain the law and order in the province.

In the meeting, it was decided to adopt a zero-tolerance policy against the evil elements, while the army has been called to maintain public order in Mianwali.

In the meeting, it has been decided to keep colleges and universities across Punjab closed for two days while the decision to close schools will be made late at night.

In the meeting, it was decided to further increase the security of sensitive places and the cases will be registered against the miscreants under the Anti-Terrorism Act.

In the meeting, IG Punjab gave a briefing on riots, arson and attacks on police while a report was sought on the damage caused to property in the violent protests.

Mohsin Naqvi said that they will take measures to protect people's lives and property and establish law and order in the province at all costs.
