UK, Saudi Arabia welcome ceasefire between Pakistan and India

Soon after US President Donald Trump announced that Pakistan and India have agreed to a ceasefire, many countries came forward with their messages welcoming the agreement. 

Responding to the development, British Foreign Secretary David Lammy tweeted, “Today’s ceasefire between India and Pakistan is hugely welcome. I urge both parties to sustain this. De-escalation is in everybody’s interest."  

Saudi Arabia also welcomed Trump’s announcement of a ceasefire between Pakistan and India. The Saudi Foreign Ministry said in a statement it is hopeful that this ceasefire agreement will lead to restoration of peace in the region.
