US considering permanent military base in Israel: Israeli media

Israeli media have reported that the United States is considering the possibility of deploying permanent military forces inside Israel, a move that would mark a significant shift in Washington’s long-term military posture in the Middle East.

According to reports, including the Israeli newspaper Israel Hayom, citing senior security sources, any US forces currently stationed in Israel are not expected to be withdrawn.

The sources suggested that ongoing discussions between Washington and Tel Aviv are focused on strengthening and potentially expanding the American military presence rather than treating it as temporary or limited to joint exercises.

Security sources indicated that the proposals under review include the deployment of advanced US air defence systems and the possible permanent stationing of fighter jet squadrons.

Additional military and logistical arrangements are also reportedly part of the discussions.

The sources further suggested that, based on current expectations, Israel could become the location of the next major US base in the region, underscoring what they described as a potential long-term strategic shift in US military deployment in the Middle East.
