Interior Minister Ijaz Shah and Defence Minister Pervez Khattak on Monday visited the Bacha Khan Markaz in Peshawar to clarify their remarks about the martyrs of the Awami National Party (ANP).

ANP leaders had announced marching on Islamabad and demanded Shah’s resignation after he said something allegedly inappropriate about martyrs of the ANP.

After Shah and Khattak’s visit to the Bacha Khan Markaz, ANP President Aimal Wali Khan said his party had withdrawn its demands like Shah’s resignation and postponed the public meeting in Islamabad on November 11.

Khattak said there was a misunderstanding between the two sides therefore he and Shah came to see the ANP leadership. He said that ANP leaders accepted their clarification.

Shah said his remarks were misunderstood and he would apologise to all Pakhtuns over this misunderstanding.
