Senator Irfan Siddiqui in ICU, not on ventilator, says family

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Senator Irfan Siddiqui is in an intensive care unit (ICU) and not on a ventilator in a hospital, sources in his family said, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Monday.

The family said that Senator Irfan Siddiqui was facing difficulties in breathing, after which he was admitted to the hospital.

The family further stated that Irfan Siddiqui will be under treatment in the hospital for a few more days.

Earlier, it was reported that Irfan Siddiqui's health deteriorated and he will not be able to cast his vote on the 27th Constitutional Amendment bill which will be held today.

Irfan Siddiqui is the leader of PML- Parliamentary Party in the Senate and Chairman of the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs.

Meanwhile, the government sources have claimed that they still have the required two-thirds majority in the upper house of the parliament for the 27th Constitutional Amendment’s approval.

The 27th Constitutional Amendment is scheduled to be presented in the Senate today (Monday), and according to officials, the government has the support of 64 members.
