Special court judge orders to create 60 to 70ft space for walk outside Imran Khan’s prison cell

Abul Hasnat Zulqarnain, special court judge in the cipher case, paid a visit to Adiala Jail, Rawalpindi, and checked the cells of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan and Vice Chairman Shah Mehmood Qureshi, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Monday.

“I’ve checked Imran Khan and Shah Mehmood Qureshi’s cells and given directions. It was a surprise visit to the cells of Imran Khan and Shah Mehmood Qureshi,” the judge said after visiting the jail.

On Imran Khan’s complaint about little space for a walk, the judge ordered to make a 60 to 70-foot space for a walk by demolishing the wall outside the PTI chairman’s cell.

“Attached bath is also available. The environment is clean,” he said.

He said that there was a small argument from the lawyers’ side during the hearing, adding that Sher Afzal Marwat stopped the PTI chairman from signing the copy of the challan.

“They have taken copies of the challan; they are reluctant to sign. The lawyers have taken copies of the challan with them,” the judge said.

“The PTI chairman’s lawyers said they want to challenge the challan. I said do it. I have also asked whether you want a trial or not,” he added.

“The charge sheet will be filed on October 17 if no order is received from the High Court. It is inappropriate not to sign when the copies of the challan have been taken,” he pointed out.

Meanwhile, former foreign minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi’s family met him in Adiala Jail.

His son Zain Qureshi, wife Mehreen Qureshi, daughter Mehr Bano and lawyer Taimur Malik met Shah Mehmood Qureshi in the jail.

Matters related to pursuing cases and Shah Mehmood’s health came under discussion during the meeting. The family left Adiala Jail after the meeting.
