Punjab CM gets briefing on Maryam Nawaz Autism School for special kids

For the first time in the history of Punjab, a new record of more than 5,000 admissions of special children in the shortest period of time was set, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Friday.

This was told in an important meeting regarding special education, chaired by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif where she got briefing on Autism School for special children.

The meeting decided to include special children in the Himmat Card Program. 

In the meeting, approval was also given to provide 48 more new buses for special education centers.

The Chief Minister clearly decided that poor children will be provided with completely free therapy and education at Maryam Nawaz Autism School.

On the instructions of the Chief Minister of Punjab, it was decided to get the services of the best autism experts from all over the world.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif also approved uniforms and designs for children, teachers and staff of the autism school.

The formation of a 13-member board of governors and the three-year strategic plan of the Autism Resource Center were approved.

Special Assistant Sania Ashiq gave a detailed briefing in the meeting.

It was briefed that a customized model is being implemented at Maryam Nawaz Autism School.

Customized model of curriculum education is successfully practiced in different countries of the world.

Evidence-based Autism Models and International Research Studies have been developed.

A comprehensive functional green curriculum has also been developed for the school.

The green curriculum includes communication and language, life skills, Islamic and moral education, technology, physical education and sociology.

Open gym, walking track, sensory garden and sound therapy centers will be established in Pakistan's first autism school.

Children from 3 to 16 years of age will be admitted here and children will be able to remain under education and treatment till the age of 22 at the Maryam Nawaz Autism School and Research Center.

A special hybrid model has been developed for the school, under which children will be given visual and written therapy in both Urdu and English languages.

Coaching modules have also been developed for the parents of the children so that better coordination between home and school can be established.

CCTV cameras should be installed in the autism school for the skills and safety of the children.

Child Welfare Officers will directly supervise the safety and welfare of special children.

A Research and Teacher Training Division will also be established in the school.

Master trainers in the Research and Teacher Training Division will provide modern training to teachers.

One-year diploma and certificate programs will also be started in the Research and Teacher Training Division.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif paid tribute to Special Assistant Sania Ashiq and the entire team for their excellent performance.
