Again taking notice of the continuous increase in the Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) prices, Prime Minister Imran Khan Friday directed the concerned ministers to restore the tax exemption granted to the gas importers to bring the prices down, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Quoting sources, the channel reported that members of the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) were perturbed over increase in the LPG prices every now and then while the prime minister is of the view that hike in the prices along with those of Sui Gas would further make the life of a common man difficult.
They added that PM Imran had said that by restoring the exemption, prices of LPG will come down, thus making the lives of ordinary people easier. “It will particularly benefit those who don’t have access to the Sui Gas,” sources quoted him as saying.
Sources further disclosed that state-owned LPG producing companies had objections to the tax exemption granted to the gas importers.
They further told 24News that the ministries of energy and finance will announce restoration of the tax exemption after consultations.
