JUI-F says PPP, JI to blame for Karachi’s post-rains condition

Commenting on the destruction caused by recent rains in Karachi, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) spokesman Aslam Ghori said on Wednesday that the tug of war between the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and the Jamaat-i-Islami (JI) had left the port city completely drenched, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

The spokesman said that right now the people of the city were going through a lot of agony and pain. “But the local bodies’ (LBs) office-bearers have restricted themselves to giving statements and photo sessions only.”

He was of the view that Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab had proved to be the worst mayor of this century. “Not only had the LB representatives let the people of the city down, but also the Sindh government,” Ghori said, and added, “PPP and the JI leaders, on the other hand, are trying to sweep under the carpet their mistakes and failures by holding each other responsible for the mess.” 

“However, they cannot hide their incompetence through the blame game,” he added.

He went on to say that the structures built on nullahs in the city had blocked the smooth flow of water due to which today, the city looked like Mohenjo Daro. “Even the city’s posh areas have turned into ruins,” he lamented.  

The spokesman opined that only free and fair LB polls were the only way out of the present crisis.

He, on the occasion, also directed the party workers not to leave the masses at the mercy of insensitive rulers.
